Entering Vietnam By Air

  • Cat Bi Airport in Hai Phong city, 5km southeast of the city center.

  • Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa province, 30km south of Nha Trang city.
  • Lien Khuong Airport in Lam Dong province, 28km south-west of Da Lat city.
  • Tan Son Nhat Aiport in Ho Chi Minh City, 7km from the city center.
  • Can Tho Airport in Can Tho city, about 8km northwest of the city center.
  • Phu Quoc Airport in Kien Giang province, 5km south of Duong Dong town, Phu Quoc island.

For foreigners, Tan Son Nhat Airport and Noi Bai Airport in Ha Noi, the nation's capital and largest city, respectively, are the two busiest international airports in Vietnam (located in Ho Chi Minh city – in the south of Vietnam).

Via Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports, a large number of tourists from around the world travel to Vietnam. The airport in Da Nang is the third most busy airport (located in central Vietnam). 

The fourth and fifth busiest airports are Phu Quoc Airport and Cam Ranh Airport respectively, both of which are situated in central-south Vietnam (located in Phu Quoc island – the south of Vietnam).

Entering Vietnam via Land

Vietnam is the nation that borders China, Laos, and Cambodia on the same side. Today, travellers can enter Vietnam from China, Laos, or Cambodia through land.

From China:

– Nam Can – Namkan, 241km north-west of Vinh city;

– Cau Treo – Namphao, 100km west of Ha Tinh city;

– Cha Lo – Naphao, 160km north-west of Dong Hoi city;

– Lao Bao – Den Savanh, 80km north-west of Dong Ha city;

– La Lay – Lalay, 120km south-west of Dong Ha city;

– Bo Y – Phou Keua, over 85km north-west of Kon Tum city.

From Cambodia:

– Le Thanh – O’Yadaw, 80km south-west of Pleiku city;

– Xa Mat – Trapeang Phlong, 50km northwest of Tay Ninh city;

– Moc Bai – Bavet, 70km north-west of Ho Chi Minh City;

– Hoa Lu – Snoul border, 90km north-west of Dong Xoai town;

– Tinh Bien – Phnom Den, 25km south-west of Chau Doc city;

– Ha Tien – Prek Chăk, 6km north-west of Ha Tien town;

– Vinh Xuong water bay border gate 

– Kaam Samnor, 30km north of Chau Doc city in An Giang province.

Entering Vietnam Via Sea

There are numerous marine routes that arrive at Vietnamese international seaports:

  • Hon Gai Sea Port in Quang Ninh province (near Ha Long Bay);
  • Hai Phong Sea Port in Hai Phong city;
  • Da Nang Sea Port in Da Nang city;
  • Nha Trang Sea Port in Khanh Hoa province;
  • Quy Nhon Sea Port in Quy Nhon city (Binh Dinh province);
  • Vung Tau Sea Port in Vung Tau city (Ba Ria Vung Tau province);
  • Ho Chi Minh Sea Port in Ho Chi Minh city

Note:

For entry into Vietnam, you must have a visa. Some nations don't require a visa to enter Vietnam.

If you require a visa to visit Vietnam, you should be aware of the ports that accept your particular type of visa.

For instance, you are only permitted to enter Vietnam through international airports if you have a Visa On Arrival. However, you can enter Vietnam at ports of entry, land border crossings, and airports with an e-Visa.
