What Are the Requirements For Vietnam Visa Application?

To know the requirements for a Vietnam visa application, one must make sure that they are the citizens of the eighty countries that are eligible to enter Vietnam. Once that is in-check, the requirements for gaining a Vietnam e-visa is as follows: 

Documents 

Below-mentioned are the necessary documents you must have for Vietnam visa application:

  • Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of your decided arrival in Vietnam.
  • Recent photograph: You will be required to carry or submit a recent photograph of yours which must meet the guidelines mentioned in the application form. Usually, the photograph required to submit must be in a .jpeg format with dimensions 4×6. The background must be white.
  • Email address: You must indicate a valid email address of yours. This email address can be either a personal email or a professional/business email address.
  • Online payment: You must make sure that you are using an online method of payment (international credit or debit card) which is widely accepted and valid. All payments must be done based on that.

Note: At a time, the Vietnam visa application can only be done for one person. This means that if you are applying for the visa for your family of five people, you will be required to fill five different application forms.

Vietnam Visa Application Form

As we mentioned before, for obtaining a Vietnam E-Visa, all individuals are required to fill out an  application form. The application form may require you to provide the following details:

  • Full name: Enter your full name accurately.
  • Date of birth: Enter your date of birth correctly.
  • Gender: Enter your gender.
  • Current nationality: Which country are you staying in now of filling the form.
  • Purpose of entry: Why do you want to visit Vietnam?
  • Date of arrival: The exact date you are entering Vietnam.
  • Date of exit: The exact date you are exiting Vietnam.
  • Arrival port: On which airport are you going to land in Vietnam?
  • Exit through checkpoint: The checkpoint through which you will be exiting Vietnam.
  • Religion: Which religious group do you belong to?
  • Job: Currently, what job are you doing?
  • Upload your photograph: You will be required to upload a recent picture of yourself. 
  • Upload your passport data page: You will be required to upload the passport data page.
  • Passport number: Enter your passport number accurately.
  • Type: Enter the passport type correctly.
  • Passport expiration date: Enter the passport expiration date.
  • Address in Viet Nam: Enter your complete address in Vietnam.
  • City/Province: Choose the city/ province you will be staying in Vietnam.

Points to remember.  

  • Since it takes three complete business days to process the Vietnam Visa, you must start applying for it at least a week ago considering national holidays, weekends and large number of applications which may increase the time of processing.
  • The E-Visa is only valid for 30 days which starts from the date of entry mentioned in the Vietnam visa application form. Before 2023, Vietnam e-Visa was only available for Single entry but in 2023, Vietnam Immigration has also made Multiple entry option available as well.
  • The Vietnam e-visa is non-refundable. So you should ensure that all the information provided in the application form is accurate and to the best of your knowledge.
  • The entry and exit checkpoints cannot be changed once mentioned in the Visa. If in case you wish to change the entry or exit points, you will be required to fill one more Vietnam visa application form.
  • Previously, tourists were able to extend their Visa in Vietnam. However, the rules for extension have been changed and no tourist or visitor is allowed to stay longer than their mentioned span of stay for any purpose.
  • If an individual do desire to stay for longer in Vietnam, they will have to travel to a nearby country and then apply for a new Vietnam visa. They will be enabled to re-enter the country with a new Vietnam visa application and E-Visa. This is referred to as Vietnam visa run.
